Abstract: 

In this talk, I will highlight recent work as part of a large collaborative research program examining the role of microstructure on fracture of AA6082 aluminum alloys.  In particular, I will highlight work on characterizing fracture-microstructure correlations as a function of iron content, in the context of recyclability, as well as the importance of precipitate free zones, a model for their formation kinetics and correlations to fracture response.  

Finally, I will highlight some of the outstanding questions that we continue to work on.
