  • Introduction aux métaux et alliages (bac + 3) : les métaux dans le tableau périodique, la liaison métallique, classes de propriétés, structures cristallines, défauts, mélanges et diagrammes de phases binaires, introduction au comportement mécanique des métaux et alliages.
  • Métallurgie physique (bac+3, bac + 4) : Thermodynamique des diagrammes de phase, solidification, diffusion, transformations de phase à l’état solide, description des défauts cristallins. Plasticité. Caractérisation des propriétés mécaniques (dureté, fluage, traction). Durcissement par solution solide, par écrouissage ou par précipitation, évolution des propriétés mécaniques avec l’exposition en température (adoucissement, recristallisation).
  • Matériaux métalliques industriels (bac + 4) : Notions importantes de métallurgie extractive, de recyclage et d’analyse du cycle de vie. Les grandes classes d’alliages, leurs désignations, leurs propriétés et domaines d’applications. Mise en relation des propriétés avec la microstructure.
  • Matériaux pour les transports (bac+5) : Métallurgie des alliages d’aluminium, de titane et de fer pour applications dans les secteurs automobile et aéronautique.

Techniques de microscopie – tomographie – diffraction (bac + 3 à bac + 5)

  • Principes de l’interaction entre une onde électromagnétique (RX) ou un faisceau corpusculaire et la matière condensée. Diffusion et diffraction des rayonnements, facteurs de diffusion atomique, facteurs de structure.
  • Principales techniques de diffraction des rayons X. Application aux métaux et alliages (détection de phases, mesure de contraintes, taille de domaines diffractant, texture)
  • Diffusion des RX aux petits angles. Application aux alliages (rayon de Guinier, fraction volumique de phase précipitée, composition des précipités, dynamique de précipitation in situ)
  • Microscopie électronique à balayage et techniques associées (EDS, EBSD).
  • Microscopie électronique en transmission (conventionnelle, haute résolution, STEM) et techniques associées. Applications aux alliages (structures, défauts…)
  • Techniques de tomographie (RX et électronique : principes physiques, procédés de reconstruction).
