AMME

AMME for « Advanced Mechanics and Materials Engineering » is an international laboratory which ratifies the partnership between the University of Rouen Normandie (URN) and the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL). This collaboration is more than twenty years old. It has first been formalized by a « sister university agreement » in 2005, then by the creation of AMME in 2010.

AMME gathers researchers from the Mechanical and Materials Engineering department (MME) of UNL and from the « Groupe de physique des Matériaux » (GPM) of URN. AMME is traditionally co-directed by a member of each partner. Since 2020, AMME is leaded by Li Tan for MME and Nicolas Delpouve for GPM.

AMME members benefit from the opportunity to mutualize the skills in material engineering developed in MME with the deepen knowledge in microstructure, specialty of GPM.  Thanks to an International Credit Mobility Erasmus + financial support obtained by URN, about thirty students and researchers were involved in URN/UNL exchanges during the last three years. The research areas were notably biomaterials, nanofibers and additive manufacturing.

For the coming years, AMME plans the extension of its collaborative network while strengthening its identity and defining a common scientific base between partners. Therefore, a new axis called “extreme conditions” has risen that will welcome specialists regarding synthesis, processing, simulation, microstructure, relaxation dynamics and multi-scale analysis. Thus, AMME workforces will be reinforced by researchers from University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and Purdue University. Besides, positive outcomes will emerge from a new organization of the partnership between both URN and Insa Rouen members of GPM, with improved interactions.
