We are developing modern approaches in physical metallurgy. Based on our state of the art facilities, research projects on metallic alloys are carried out at all scales, from atomic imaging up to thermomechanical tests. Such multiscale characterization usually goes along with numerical modeling also adapted at different scales. Four research teams work on the understanding and the optimization of metallic alloys performances, from processing to applications. Thus, our aim is to develop fundamental knowledge on phase transformation in alloys, materials under extreme conditions (high temperature, irradiation, severe plastic deformation), oxidation and corrosion, surface treatments, mechanics of material. These topics are often investigated in collaboration with industrial partners.
