The aim of this M2 intership is to study the transition from electronic to ionic emission, to understand whether ionic emission is triggered by electrons and how this depends on the energy aquired by electron due to the interaction with the THz pulse.
During this M2 intership, in order to gain a better understanding of the emission mechanisms, the student will analyse conductive and non-conductive samples in a THz APT by varying the static field and the amplitude of the THz pulse under the supervision of a PhD student who has been working on the subject for two years. In addition, the student will carry out numerical simulations of the trajectories of electrons and ions under the action of the static field and THz using Simion software, under the supervision of a young researcher who has been using the software and working on the project for three years.
This research work could be pursued as part of a future PhD work.
Starting time: March 2025 ; duration 5-6 months.
